To me, the key here is that the average person does not know the difference between mortality and morbidity. Using the terms interchangeably suggests they are the same. RFK Jr is going to get a lot of people suffering long term, or even killed, with this kind of misinformation.
I could not agree with this more. The amount of terminology that is basic for epidemiologists and yet has little to no public valence is a crucial issue. And a huge challenge for science/public health communication. Especially when people like RFK Jr cherry pick studies; they can (often cynically, IMO) rely on little to no science literacy among the general public.
I think RFK is a psychopath. To the point of being a serial killer. He gets off being in control of people’s health and directing them to their deaths.
If RFK Jr has to rely on a 1970 address by Kass to get his point across, that's a red flag. Dude, medical science has advanced in the past 55 years, but that may be an "inconvenient truth." His theory falls flat in today's world just on the measles issue alone. Sad that he's COUNTING on either the lethargy or inability of the public to do critical thinking and dismisses valid arguments as "conspiracy theory". Of course, he's also helped throw the NIH into the crapper so there is less room to dispute his theories with valid studies & data.
(***Note, IMHO, whenever someone plays that "conspiracy" card, it's almost a sure thing they're own argument is out of bullets. It's almost as bad as resorting to making personal attacks when you have no case, as his boss tends to do when backed into a corner on an issue, but I digress.)
