I’m in the final stretch of edits on Hero’s Dose: The Case for Psychedelics in Ritual and Therapy. Early in the writing process, I realized that if I want to discuss the reason psychedelics could be a potential therapy for conditions like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other trauma-related disorders, I needed to understand why current protocols fail us.
There’s a lot there.
I touch upon this topic in Conspirituality 18, giving a brief overview of pharmacology in the 20th century. The episode centers around Matthew’s exceptional article, “Inside Kelly Brogan’s Covid-Denying, Vax-Resistant Conspiracy Machine.” I can’t recommend it enough.
I also had the pleasure of speaking with British philosopher Jules Evans, the writer who turned me onto the term “conspirituality” back in April. It was wonderful chatting with him, discussing Aldous Huxley, Alan Watts, and, of course, conspiracy theories in the wellness industry.
In other news, I was recently interviewed by one of my favorite publications, Mother Jones, to talk about QAnon infiltrating mom’s groups online. The piece offers insights into how easily this conspiracy theory infiltrates even the most unsuspecting groups imaginable.
